A special thanks to Honorary President of IASTA 2016 Maura Lavery, for her very inspiring words of wisdom to all of us in IASTA at the Annual Dinner, in The Abbey Hotel in Roscommon on Friday night last.

Saturday turned out to be a Marathon session from 9:00 am until 5:15. It was some voluntary performance from a group of 80 teachers, who are so passionate about their subject Agricultural Science. They discussed the NCCA New Draft Specifications in depth.

The team Leaders, members of the Executive worked ‘thro lunch until 5:15pm, scrutinizing and doing an analysis of the developments and outcomes of the morning session.

Meanwhile their colleagues, after lunch took a Coach trip outside the town of Roscommon. They enjoyed the hospitality of Host Dairy farmer Patrick Hickey and his 300 cows Herd, which was set up only three years ago. John Hardy of Teagasc, gave an education guide to grass measurement, soil testing, the fertilizer programme on the farm, a demonstration of Slurry injection. A live calving on site with the arrival of a new born calf on the farm during the visit, was a fantastic finale to the on a bitterly cold March afternoon in Roscommon.
