AgriAware Farm Walk & Talk 2016

Agri Aware’s Farm Walk and Talk, 2016 will take place over the week of 7-11 of March when second level agricultural students across the country are expected to attend events.
Through curriculum-linked educational and exploratory tours at Teagasc Agricultural Colleges, students will be given the opportunity for hands-on learning about a variety of elements of farming life e.g. the dairy, beef, sheep, pigs, poultry and crops sectors.
The primary objective of Agri Aware’s Farm Walk and Talk is to expose students to the reality of agricultural science and give students a better understanding of the practicalities of agriculture. In addition, students will have the opportunity to get advice from third level agricultural lecturers, who are highly experienced with the curriculum and will share their expert knowledge on specific topics. They will also be given the opportunity to learn more about the Irish agri-food industry.
These interactive educational talks are delivered by Teagasc lecturers and members of the Irish agri-food industry. Industry members (and patrons of Agri Aware) from the Irish meat and dairy industries educate students daily about how the agri-food business operates and included factors relating to quality, traceability, sustainability, rural community development, exports and commitments to environmental preservation.
